Teaching Philosophy

Music is a language that is unique and very personal to every individual. I seek to understand how every student learns in order to mold lessons and activities to fit there particular needs. Together, we build a foundation to develop their own voice in the expression of music through learning how the student themselves learns best. Whether it be improvisation, composition, or the learning of a concrete repertoire, I seek to enable the student to master the process. Through these experiences, the student develops not only confidence in themselves, but also in the realization that they too are able to teach and develop their own personal voice in music and other skills throughout their life.
